Traditional Indigenous Tobacco (Nicotiana rustica / Nicotiana quadrivalvis)

$4.50

Traditional Indigenous Tobacco Nicotiana rustica / Nicotiana quadrivalvis        Net wt: ~100 seeds.

Often referred to as “sacred tobacco,” this heirloom grows to about 1 m tall with broad, lime-green leaves. For many First Nations, tobacco is used with deep respect in prayer, ceremony, healing, and as a sacred offering—especially when seeking guidance or giving thanks. This reflects forms of tobacco cultivated by Indigenous peoples for generations.

Start seeds indoors in late March on the soil surface (light aids germination) and keep warm with a heat mat. Mist gently and provide strong light. Transplant late May–early June after frost into full sun. Harvest leaves in late summer and dry in a well-ventilated place. Grow and handle with intention and respect. Chigarden 2026
