This is a vigorous, productive and adaptable pole bean, grown for its long (8”), wider (1.5”), streamless meaty fruits. The shells keep a pleasant bite without becoming fibrous as they mature, it’s great for stir-fries and quick braises. This is our tenth year of growing this crop in Ottawa.

Direct sow when the soil is warm 7-10 days before the last frost, or start indoors in May and transplant in the 2nd week of June. Provide full sun. pace plants 10–15 cm (4–6″) apart with rows 60–90 cm (24–36″). Harvest young pods often to encourage continuous production. Chigarden 2026
